Meet the Therapists
Carrie Schilling, LMT
As a practicing RN with 20 years of nursing experience, I believe in an integrated approach to healthcare. Massage facilitates the connection of the mind, body and spirit that is essential for true health and is a beneficial part of a comprehensive preventative health plan.
I am a 2009 graduate of Soothing Arts Massage School in Destin, Florida with an additional certification in Manual Lymph Drainage. After receiving my licensure from the Ohio State Medical Board in 2011, I joined the team of therapist at Shanti Medical Massage Clinic. It was here at Shanti that I was introduced to Precision Neuromuscular Therapy (PNMT) and immediately began training in this amazing treatment approach.
I am a strong advocate for client education. Massage can assist in bringing health and wellness to your body. An understanding of how your body works, what it is that is hurting, what behavior caused the injury and what behavior to avoid can aid you in promoting and maintaining the healing process.
Kelly Clark, LMT
The infinite manifests itself as individual being and as wholeness.
~ Charles Ridley
The first 20 years of my professional life were spent in the Information Technology field. I worked as a business and computer consultant and spent two years serving in Russia with the US Peace Corps.
In 2009, I decided to pursue a life-long interest in holistic wellness. This career transition began at SHI Integrative Medical Massage School. During my studies at SHI, I signed up for a pain management class for soft tissue offered at Shanti Medical Massage Clinic, and it was an immediate connection for me. After receiving my license from the Ohio State Medical Board in 2011, I started my practice at Shanti.
I have received advanced training and certification in Precision Neuromuscular Therapy (PNMT), Myofascial Release taught by John Barnes P.T., and Upledger Institute CranioSacral Therapy. I have also studied Biodynamic CranioSacral Therapy and Stillness Touch. I use a combination of these techniques to create a unique experience for each session.
The philosophy that appeals to me is that everything is connected, and that the location of the pain may not always be the same as the source of the pain. Sometimes present pain patterns stem from past or present physical, mental, or emotional stress. I believe that there are many different dimensions to healing and enjoy creating a safe and inviting environment for my clients to access their own healing resources.
Carol Lang, LMT
I am a graduate of SHI School of Medical Massage and received my license from the Ohio Medical Board in 2006. I spent over two decades working in the corporate world for two Fortune 500 Companies, 17 of which were spent in the dental/medical field.
In 2007, while maintaining my corporate employment, I started Rock N Roll Hands Massage Therapy® where I cater to nationally as well as internationally known recording artists and performers. I am currently pursuing certification in Neuromuscular Therapy.
Keli Sargent, LMT
I received my license from the Ohio State Medical board in 2009 after an accelerated 9 month course at the Dayton School of Medical Massage. After a few years in the industry, my career was nearly ended due to injury and burnout when fate took its course and I met Carrie Schilling, LMT. In 2012, I joined Shanti and was exposed to a whole new approach to bodywork. My body healed, my skills grew exponentially and I grew a private practice completely by word of mouth.
My sessions are individualized for the clients’ needs and may include any one or blend of precision neuromuscular therapy, myofascial release, deep tissue, relaxation and/or barefoot ashiatsu massage.
Hanna Lee, LMT
I was raised with the healing hands of my grandparents due to an acute illness I had as a child; they made all the pain disappear. Healing became my passion and I obtained my medical massage certificate from the Dayton School of Medical Massage and license from the Ohio State Medical Board in 2015. My areas of specialization for treating pain are carpal tunnel and lateral/medial epicondylitis. I’m currently studying Precision Neuromuscular Therapy to improve my skills as a pain management therapist.
Emily Wilhelm, LMT, CPNMT
I earned my licensure in 2004 after graduating from the Dayton School of Medical Massage. I then pursued my specialty Precision Neuromuscular Massage, after joining the team at Shanti in 2008. My latest endeavor is motherhood and the study of Myofascial Release. I enjoy my part time practice serving my long time clients. Occasionally spaces open up for new clients so don’t hesitate to check. I’ll be happy to give you an appropriate referral if needed.
Joy Helton, LMT, CPNMT
Wisdom is knowing I am nothing
Love is knowing I am everything
And between the two my life moves.
~ Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj
Three years after my exposure to the healing arts and eastern philosophy, I set in motion a career change from manufacturing engineering technology to massage therapy. I was licensed in 2002 by the Ohio State Medical Board after graduating from the Dayton School of Medical Massage.
Modalities I’m trained in that are often requested include Neuromuscular Massage Therapy, Deep Tissue Massage, Myofascial Release and Therapeutic Relaxation. I also have additional advanced training that is a permeable part of a session such as the art of deep listening and stillness, inner alchemy, magnetic entrainment, reiki and toning.
